We are excited that Laurence Dixon, a former Operational Detective Sergeant with 32rs police service will be coming along to our Recovery Group to hold a talk for us.
Laurence spent his career investigated homicides, major frauds, robberies, serious sexual offences, firearms and drugs supply. He also worked for seven years in the Northwest Counter Terrorism Unit, investigated activities of individuals plotting acts of terrorism against UK. He’s worked in some of the most challenging areas of London, Liverpool and latterly Manchester. Laurence now works for the Ministry of Defence Police. During his time with GMP, on top of his day job, for the last six years of his service, he was a member of GMP’s Hostage Crisis Negotiation Unit.
Trained in one of the most demanding psychological and emotionally challenging roles within the police, Laurence’s passion for this work coupled with his ability to engage an audience and translate his knowledge, experience and the lessons learned throughout his career, into the workplace has seen him become recognized as an inspirational speaker in the areas of high-pressure negotiation, influence and persuasion, leadership and dealing with conflict.
A fantastic storyteller he draws on his extensive experience gained through some of the most challenging situations imaginable, to engage and keep his audience entertained whilst they can learn vital skills for the workplace and life.
Helping people in crisis is a passion for Laurence and he is thrilled to be coming along to the Recovery Group on the 15th March to hold a talk with the group.
